Description

Jasmine flower, legendary flower

– relieves and detoxifies –

In India, the jasmine flower was sacred to the god of world stability, Vishnu. Kama, the Indian god of love, is represented with a bow whose arrows are made of five flowers, including jasmine. Legend has it that Cleopatra went to meet Marc Antony in a boat with sails coated with jasmine essence.

Where does jasmine come from?

Jasmine has been found for centuries in all warm regions of the world: Central Asia, China (leading producer), but also Afghanistan, Iran, Nepal and India. Jasmine was introduced in the 16th century in Spain by the Arabs during the Crusades. It then spread all around the Mediterranean. It has been cultivated in Grasse since the 17th century.

Along with the rose, jasmine is one of the queen flowers of perfumery. It is included in the heart notes of many famous perfumes.

Its benefits for the body:

Jasmine is the subject of numerous scientific studies for its various therapeutic properties. It has been traditionally used for centuries for its benefits on:

  • detox and digestion: jasmine is rich in antioxidants. At the intestinal level it drains toxins and facilitates better absorption of nutrients and promotes the growth of good intestinal bacteria. In addition, its antispasmodic qualities act on digestion and relieve stomach cramps.
  • Depression and anxiety: a recent study attempted to demonstrate that breathing jasmine would have an anti-stress and anti-anxiety action by acting on a neurotransmitter of the central nervous system.
  • Sleep: in aromatherapy we use jasmine for its soothing and sedative properties . Jasmine flowers appear to have adaptogenic qualities allowing them to regulate the nervous system as needed. A 2005 study published in the European Journal of Applied Physiology found that breathing in the scent of jasmine and lavender helps you fall asleep more easily.
  • Libido: in herbal medicine, jasmine is known to be a sexual tonic and to help the body relax.
  • Female cycle disorders: thanks to its anti-spasm action, jasmine flowers are used to relieve the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome and period pain.
  • Skin problems: thanks to its antiseptic and healing properties, jasmine is used to combat acne, small wounds, redness, skin inflammations, etc.
  • Olfactotherapy : its scent calms and euphorizes, it inspires confidence and optimism.
  • Discomfort in the chest and diaphragm
  • Relieves headaches, dizziness
  • Red eyes (conjunctivitis)
  • Spasmodic cough
  • Antioxidant , drinks made with this plant will limit the effects of aging on the skin and the body.
