Grapefruit seed extract is a water- and alcohol-soluble antioxidant with limited antimicrobial properties.
“Limited” is the key word here! It is not a broad spectrum preservative and the Eco Preservative cannot be replaced by grapefruit seed extract in the manufacture of a cream or other product containing an aqueous phase.
But it can very well be used to slightly extend the life of a two-phase make-up remover (which therefore contains hydrosol, an aqueous phase, and which will be used relatively quickly) for example.
